Oh so softly

Oh so softly

I am sorry for drawing

You closer to me,

For not letting you fly,

Allowing you to be free.

I beg that you feel,

No obligation,

No regrets, no resentment,

No consternation.

If it is your will,

To turn around and leave,

I will not stay your hand,

But give you room to breathe.

I do not wish to stifle,

Or to hold you back,

Only to see you smile,

Not to see you with a lack

Of contentment,

Caused by my own err.

I hope you learn to

Love and not to fear.

Please if you do,

Desire another hand,

Grow weary of this dance,

No longer wish to stand,

At the side of an unequal,

Not your stature or deserve,

Do not leave me wondering,

How to earn your love.

If you cannot bear to face,

What I am today,

Do not live to hate and begrudge

The wonders of yesterday.

I do not lay the blame, do not wish to fight,

Only pray for solace and an end to this black night.

I was completely absorbed by this write. The emotions you show really give a clear message to the struggles faced within. Excellent job.

A truly passionate write. I could feel the angst, frustration, and pain in your words. This write was like an intimate glimpse through the looking glass of your life, as it I were reading a private letter from you to the one you love/long for. And the sentiment reminds me of the old saying, if you love someone, let them go, and if they return than it was meant to be. Seems this is true in my experience, but as with many things in life, it is easier said than done. Wonderful display of emotion, keep on writing. Peace and Love, Spence

Thank you for taking the time to read, I confess this left me feeling quite raw after writing it. Its often the case that taking your own advice is much harder than giving it. I am glad you caught my meaning. Thank you so much for commenting, much obliged to you. Good evening Narrator.

You are most humbly welcome, good evening to you as well. ~Spence

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
