"Dancing With Eagles" ( Indian Brave)
Dancing With Eagles
Squatting there, near the bright fire
Appearing...so brave and proud
Many moons, had passed by him
With beating of drums...so loud
Life's lessons, caused a hardness
showing, in each line on his face
Other times, it was painted for attack
For his battle, with the white race
As he glanced around, and about him
While roasting deer...over the flame
He felt sad, for the loss of his people
Remembering each one....by name
He saw Buffalos off in the distance
Kicking up ...white clouds of dust
There was a wolf pressing near
His friend, he had learned to trust
Just then ....an eagle was flying
Swooping down , upon some prey
Brought to his mind, white man's lying
And his land...they had taken away
Mother earth, had treated them well
Supplying them, much wheat and corn
The God of the skies, sent the rainbow
And the Sun God kept them warm
Just a plain and simple people
Led by the Great Spirit above
Not deserving of our treatment
And retaliated...push for shove
Staring up toward the heaven's
He thanked the "Gods" for all
Encouraged, he'd face tomorrow
An "Indian Brave"....standing tall!
