Poem Commentary

We all have things that we love, and make us happy. . . These are some, of what I love.
Thanks to God, I can enjoy these, and look forward to so much more. . . In Eternity!

"Things I Love"

Things I Love

The scent of Lilac carried in a breeze
Wheat gently swaying in the fields
The droning sound of honey bees
The taste of honey, that they yield

Water trickling from a stream
Ivy . . . that creeps along its way
Watching a frothing waterfall
Feeling it's cool gentle spray

A squirrel scurrying up a tree
Chipmunks, that scuffle about
Constantly searching over the ground
It's amusing to watch them scout

Raindrops pattering, on a tin roof
The smell of autumn in the air
Beautiful foliage, a colorful display
Natures arrangement with flare

Wind chimes tinkling in the breeze
Flocks of birds flying south
Icicles hanging on roofs after a freeze
Cooing sounds, from a baby's mouth

Croaking of crickets, on a summers eve
A clear and bright starlit sky
The sun coming up over a mountain
A lonesome whippoorwill, cry

Snowflakes spinning through the air
Laughter from children on a sled
An outline of winter trees in a row
Settling into a warm, cozy bed

Soft soothing sounds of a lullaby
Pine scent of a Christmas tree
Watching caroler's go door to door
Slopes. . . Snow covered, ready to ski

A little bud that has come to bloom
Eggs, that lay in a birds nest
Ripe tomatoes hanging from their vines
A mighty lion, posed at rest

Kittens playing with a ball of yarn
Gooney birds trying to take flight
Sounds from an old "Coo-Coo" clock
Awesome fireworks displayed at night

A billowy cloud drifting through space
Pretty butterflies, flitting around
Ships coming to land, at shore
With horns, echoing their sound

There are many things I could mention
And you too, if you'd ponder a while
God's creation gives so many pleasures
Thinking on these . . . brings a smile!

Romans 8:32
He that spared not, His own son, but delivered him up for us all

That we may enjoy. . .Life.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
