The Wedding That Almost Was
There was a woman with her heart set on one particular manShe would get him to marry her as she had the perfect plan
Except every single time she tried to get into his good grace
He rejected her then moved on to a different place
But nothing could stop her as she was; for this man obsessed
And she wanted him with all her being as a demon possessed
It became a ruthless game as she watched him date a few
But the more he tried to elude her; her affection for him grew
She went to the trouble of crashing his dates to get to him
And did whatever she thought it would take to get rid of them
Time again, he told her that he wanted nothing to do with her
Only she would ignore those words as if they were just a slur
Wherever he went; she was more than likely going to be there
And with certainty he couldn't hide as she was everywhere
But as luck seem to have it; the obsessive chase abruptly ended
Seems she took a hiatus from him and the interest she rescinded
Thus began the twist to this assorted course of a strange event
As demented as this seemed to him; he knelt down to lament
He couldn't believe the woman he once vehemently abhored
Has become his greatest fascination and someone he adored
She, of course has found someone else to occupy all of her time
But she was missing the one man that could make her feel sublime
She got a proposal for marriage but wasn't happy as she could be
But considering her biological clock she gave up on being free
She decided to marry even though she was settling for second best
She felt this guy was better than most but not her first interest
The wedding day wasn't the most coveted of any like occasions
But those among the guest list were of the most affluent persuasions
While standing at the alter with her betrothed and reciting vows
Someone interrupted before they became each others spouse
And to her pleasant surprise this someone was her one and only
He proclaimed in front of everyone that without her he was lonely
She didn't hesitate to leave her would be husband at the alter
She ran into the out stretched arms of her now rock of Gibraltar
He was the man of her dreams and somehow she won him over
This happening for them was as rare as finding a four leaf clover
Everyone wondered if there was going to be a marriage today
She was so happy that she cried and there was nothing to say
Then on bended knee he said those four words she longed to hear
It goes without saying that her response was spoken loud and clear
Well, there was no wedding as planned but she finally got her man
The two of them decided to elope privately so away they both ran
The moral of this tale is somewhat a cliche; expect the unexpected
And to always pursue your dreams even after being rejected
