Mirror Image
As I look into a mirror my life is revealed
The lines on my face reflects my past
I see the present while gazing into the future
I remember my younger years and notice my beauty starting to fade
The lines on my face are markings of wisdom
Suddenly my memory triggers the reason one should not frown
All the years of laughing has left it's marks
Smiling somehow hides them
I've watched my hair transform
It is no longer black silky full flowing hair
It has become gray strands of unmanageable string
A consolation to the hair loss from menopause
The art of fake hair and wigs more than compensate
Several hours of primping and pampering gives me confidence
I make myself look presentable for any occasion
When I'm noticed by the public, my age doesn't matter
What's important is how I see myself
The mirror reflects what's in front of it
I am the woman in front of the mirror
My real image cannot be seen in the mirror
It's not on the outside its within
