Stray
Out of the blue, you call
Like a thief in the night
Destitute
Squalid and furry
Crawling on all fours
At my back door
Head quarters to healin'
Perserverance in your eyes detract
The barely audible whimpers
I rescue you from your woes
Doing my best to restore thee
Elixirs come to mind; for starters
Host of other details as well
I prepare a steamy bubbly liquid for your soak
Sustenance in abundance; devoured
Copious liquids quenched your thirst
Following inordinate hours of quiescent slumber
Your youthful health
Moments earlier, obscurred; now returns
Out of the blue, you disappeared quickly
From whence you came
Like a thief in the night
