Juneteenth
It was the emancipation proclamation
of eighteen sixty three
Removing the chains of bondage
and setting the slaves free
However, the state of Texas;
enforced order two years later
Deliberately withheld the enslaved
to benefit from the laborers
Commemorating this day in history,
there's a day of celebration
Juneteenth is world wide
with respect to given salvation
African American independence
is a day widely known in June
Joyful occasion enjoyed
by all communities opportune
The cultural event is filled with pride
and depicts black awareness
Significant progress has been made
but not enough in all fairness
