Alone In the Dark

Alone In the Dark

Sitting by myself, no food in my kitchen . . .
What I'm missing is an income, means to support myself.
No job and no work keeps me itching
For a means to release my worry and strife . . .
My life ain't a pretty picture.

Every now and then I roam the streets for a bit to eat
To no avail,
And all the angry stares and unfamiliar faces
Seek to beat my spirit down,
I'm so stressed out I forgot myself . . .
My relief welcomes weary feet.

Although it's hard livin' this day to day, you gotta remember
You're not alone in the dark.
We struggle and we fight to make our own price,
But a the end of the day, you're alone in the dark.

People ask me why I waste my time
Playin' guitar to rhyme.
But I don't even answer, don't pay them no mind.
For me this instrument brings relief . . .
And I can bring your spirits up
If you still believe.

My ratty clothes and crooked smile don't mean a damn thing.
I know I'm doin right and that is why I sing . . .

Although it's hard livin' this day to day, you gotta remember
You're not alone in the dark.
We struggle and we fight to make our own price,
But a the end of the day, you're alone in the dark . . .

Out on the grind sick of the small time,
So I'm gonna rhyme until my wrist shine.
No gold, no glory . . . ya'll don't know me,
Kickin' flow from the highest to the low.
Seated in this game the top of the throne.
King of the block and, yes, I rock
Hand me an axe instead of the glock 'cause I'm all about the music,
Don't fuck with the cops.

My ratty clothes and crooked smile don't mean a damn thing.
I know I'm doin right and that is why I sing.
You can join in with me, let's go have a party.
We'll toast to our independence, dancin' cause we made it.

Very well told. Is this your story? Keep trying. Don't give up.

:)

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
