Insomnia
I've given up wishing for pleasant dreams . . .
To find shut eye is a gift.
Wrap slumber decorative for a happier holiday,
Send me a voice to fall in love to.
If I've ever needed you it's tonight and if I've ever hated you it's now.
Self-restraining hands away from phone frustration,
The monotone mocking my lack of importance to you.
It's over and I'm forlorn,
You're oblivious.
Another perfect ending to decay . . .
Everything carries your lover's taint.
We recycle to well to sleep,
You were the poison to my disease.
Comfort and zen, the cure already within.
You disappeared into the night,
I surrendered life to bewitch you.
Almost happier to roam this earth alone,
Mental engagements satisfy.
The struggle to survive imprinted on my brain,
Bleeding, but not betraying.
It's over and I'm forlorn,
You're oblivious.
Another perfect ending to decay . . .
Everything carries your lover's taint.
Only the minute hand will tell if rescue becomes recover . . .
You give yourself to pretenders.
All my patience awaits your face,
Whether to cherish or replace.
To find shut eye is a gift.
Wrap slumber decorative for a happier holiday,
Send me a voice to fall in love to.
If I've ever needed you it's tonight and if I've ever hated you it's now.
