Bane
Into an ancient hall of dwarves
We fearless ones do enter
How deep their tunnels run
Reaching to this earth's center
A reek of death, steel, and blood
Fills this mighty earthen home
Great battle happened here
In this fresh made catacomb
The corpses of fallen warriors
Littering all seen in our dim light
This was their final battle
These dwarves' final fight
Silent as the tomb it now is
Our footfalls quietly take us
Ever deeper into this place
These halls once so precious
Darkness consumes this place
Both in our sights and minds
We deny ourselves any fear
For we cannot fall prey to its binds
As we walk toward the end
We drink in what exactly happened
An orc lies dead, an axe in him
His horde brought the dwarves' end
A single wrong step falls
A little rock clatters away
The distant echoes call out
A mistake for which we'll pay
They are coming swiftly
Armor and weapons clink
Loudly as a defending city's alarm
We have no time to think
As the din grows ever louder
We prepare to make war
Many will fall in the darkness
We may breathe nevermore
Soon the horde is upon us
Suddenly screaming into battle
Their charging steps cause
The earth itself to rattle
My men and I raise our weapons
The twang of bowstrings
And the clatter of swords
Mark the death of many foul things
I myself take the lead
My blade felling many foes
Slicing through hideous flesh
Freely, their black blood flows
We fight for many hours
Restless and weary as we are
Blood mist fills our minds
Carrying our bodies far
What was the din of battle
Is now the silence of death
We stumble over corpses
Wounded and barely drawing breath
Through these bloodstained halls
We continue on our quest
The light of day lies just ahead
It seems we've passed our test
I emerge carrying a new title
In remembrance of all I have slain
Gaze upon me and have fear
For I am all evil's Bane
