Faded Nation
This is the darkest shade of America
Is the the country in which I was born?
I can't think about what could have been
Because I have no choice but to mourn
Our educators are teaching intolerance
Though subtly, this is what they say
"If they look different, punish them to no end
And if they persist, you must send them away"
There is corruption in all possible levels
Of our precious and rotting economy
Big businesses lie and fraud their way up
And sometimes mom and pop are no better to me
The soldiers of our proud armed forces
Are fighting a war for power and greed
At first for "freedom" and a fossil fuel
And now for blood diamonds we do not need
We have religions preaching only pure hate
Damning all who are different or gay
Their book teaches love for all on this earth
They turn the other cheek, the hypocrite's way
Suffering and poverty crowd our streets
Children go without any education at all
Entire families are forced into oblivion
With no choice but to watch themselves fall
Politicians are promising us all peace and change
But whilst warring among each other
Nothing can be done for our decaying nation
I sometimes wish to leave for another
Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves
This is not the future they had wanted for us
We are no nation of freedom and beauty
The plans they laid were thrown under the bus
