Mother
This world is burning
My mother once said
I didn't believe her
But I see now it's dead
When a father to five
Can lose all his being
It's easy to know
Exactly what she's seeing
When one of her sons
Can be stolen on a lie
This world is so evil
It's hard not to cry
Her daughter is as lost
She is acting on whim
Acting out again and again
Fighting a life so grim
Another of her sons
Has given himself up
He has nothing more
Than the love in his cup
And her autistic son
Seems so unaware
Yet in my heart I know
He sees all that's there
I am her oldest son
And I'm in such pain
It's so hard to cope
With footing I can't gain
But my dear mother
The opener of my eyes
I am quite amazed
By how little she cries
This world is burning
My mother once said
I now fully believe her
And wish it weren't dead
