    • Been on a hiatus for awhile, but I'm back and have the itch to write some poetry.

    My Brother's Keeper

    now you've heard the story
    of the Garden of  Eden
and all about Adam and Eve
    but have you heard
    the tale of woe
    of the boys they conceived
Cain and Able worked real hard
    at tending to their jobs
    when Adam and Eve
     came and said
    make a sacrifice to God
a sacrifice to give to him
for all that they have sinned
and if he liked their offering
     forgiveness they would win
    Now Able was a Shepherd
and he offered God his best
and because of his great sacrifice
    God was impressed
    Cain was a farmer
and he wanted it all to keep
the only thing he offered God
was a little bit of wheat
    God was not won over
with how little he had offered
he said why does your brother give
    so much more
    to your lord and father
    but these words
    they angered Cain
    and with jealousy he filled
so he took Able to the field
and it was there that he was killed
    Cain felt no remorse
    for being his brother's reaper
    so when God asked
    where Able was
he said "am I my brother's keeper"
Able's blood had filled the Earth
    and this had angered God
so he sentenced Cain a vagabond
in the land that they called Nod
    to forever walk the Earth
    and see his brother's face
    Cain is still around today
    alive within our race
    he lurks somewhere deep within
    deep inside our soul
    waiting to unleash his wrath
and make us feel all his woe

first a little spelling lesson...woe. secondly, and more importantly...good poem, it needs a little refining, there are a couple of places where the flow is a little rough...but I really like your phrasing and your point...yes, the evil still lurks in our hearts, it always has. good write.

I was spelling it woe, but the spell check kept saying I was wrong....... oh woe is me!

Poetry is what is lost in translation.
