Work

  • Been on a hiatus for awhile, but I'm back and have the itch to write some poetry.

Work

I toiled most my life
in the mud and in the dirt
hating every minute of it
and getting up for work
then one day it hit me
like a ton of bricks that fell
work shouldn't be work at all
it shouldn't be a living hell
do that thing that makes you happy
that something that you love
pick a job that's just right for you
and fits you like a glove
so when its time to get up
you'll look forward to the day
it won't be about the money
or just about the pay
perhaps you'll make a difference
in whichever job you choose
then your life will be much happier
and your family's will be too

there's a word to the wise! I think the bigger part of high school should help kids figure out just these answers: what are my gifts, what do I enjoy doing...great job, sounds like you had a much delayed epiphany!

Poetry is what is lost in translation.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
