Never Cry

Never Cry

Shadows come too coldly
That sorrow in the air
Icy words can melt in pain
Too soon there

Learn the ways to please
Never even asking why
Did you somehow lose the way
Do you know how to cry

Begin the road to hatred
It becomes too easy to do
Think of all the pain you've known
Somehow it's nothing new

Perhaps a bit delightful now
Such a delicate touch of fire
Humble web of night
Pleasures cool desire

I'll leave you bound
Such death of night
Never cry...Or die

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
