    TO MY DAUGHTER

     When I was carrying you, I didn't know who you would be.
    I knew for certain you were my love seed.
    You were born early, ready to go, see, do, and touch.
    Every step that you took was full of adventure.
    Keeping up with you was a full day venture.
    I knew from the beginning you had a spark.
    Full you were of laughter and joy, full of mischief, and had
    plenty of ways to annoy. ;-)
    You are talented in so many ways.
    You are smart and beautiful, always so full of grace.
    I hope you know how much I admire you.
    Helping to shape you has been wonderful.
    I love your spirit, your style , your smile.
    Your kooky ways brighten my darkest days.
    You sing so beautiful.
    Your personal gift from above.
    You are creative and talented and full of so much love.
    Your brothers and sister look up to you.
    As the should, you are an excellent example tried and true.
    I just wanted to take the time to let you know how grateful I am
    to have such a wonderful young lady as you.
    For not only are you my daughter.
    YOU ARE MY FRIEND.
    I LOVE YOU.

    As a man, I often reflect on the truly wonderful blessing that is my son. Five years now and, periodically waves of gratitude and awe will wash over me. I, in my own way, can relate to the apparent and deep love you have for your child. May God bless and keep you and yours Essence.
