Are we really survivors of Slavery ?
The greatest misconception today is that slaves were only of African descent. So i wonder, when i explore my history , will i find shame, inferiority, or strength ?
Ignorance fueled the fire, for the devastation remains from slavery, It's still lingering like stale food left out to rot.
I'm reminded by people who have little direction, whom are under-educated in major areas, that slavery no longer exist .
They are the first to correct , this is why we must interject.
Many are slaves and don't even realize it .
Slaves to their family.
Slaves to their jobs.
Slaves to confusion.
Slaves to society.
Slaves to poverty.
Slaves to random acts of ignorance.
Slaves to a lower mentality.
Slaves to a low self esteem.
When most talk about slavery it becomes taboo, when the truth is that this is and issue that has not been properly dealt with. The truth is ,that slaves were strong. We there ancestors have had to live with resilience, dignity, and strength that comes from forgiveness. Many people are ashamed to say that they are direct descendants of slaves. Yet those same slaves are the very reason for our survival. They bared major trauma, horrific work hours, rations that barely satisfied one grown person, yet fed an entire family.Sustained the brutal attacks of injustice, still they harbored love, concern , and respect for one another, nurtured one another , in close quarters, Insuring the survival of future generations, yet today we complain about almost every aspect of life. who should be ashamed of who?
