I've never had a man

I've never had a man who's been willing to go the distance ,
i'm the type who loves persistence.
I've never had a man to completly win my heart ,
It was the sex that cheapened the start.
I've never known a man to ask my father for my hand ,
impossible without a wedding band .
I've not known a king ,
to make my spirit rise and sing .
I've yet to meet a man who comes with future plans ,
and walks me up & down the beach's sand.
I've not met a man who would stop time for me ,
evoking all the powers that be .
I've never met a man who could set aside his ego,
and blow me kisses each time the wind blows .
I've not met a man that would take off his mask ,
he'll know what i need, wont have to ask.
I've yet to soar high with a man ,
gazing upon unfamiliar lands.
I've never had a man to unselfishly teach me how to make love to him,
reminding me everyday that i'm his gem.
I've never had a man that has done everything for me & and asked for nothing in return,
just that our love will continue to internally burn.
i've never known a man that will love me without doubt or fear ,
shows me his love for me has grown year after year.

NevillePark commented on I've never had a man 01-14-2011: Provocative title off the bat - - 'swut makes books move off the shelf and ... oh never mind. A woman's eye (one has to conclude) is the flywheel of balance and purpose in the structure of society. As Jack Nicholson said in that movie a while ago ... About how the reason most women never meet the man you're talking about is because he may lack too many of the required features many women feel makes a man. When in most cases it is how a man treats you and makes you feel that makes a man. It is not the way he looks, how he dresses, the car he drives, the job he has, or how much money he has but those things make up the bulk of how women measure a man.; Reply to Comment

There are things with a woman I haven't yet done and should have done, but I press on as I hope you do. I love the honesty in this poem - just beautiful. I hope you meet that man someday and hope he is beyond these words - even more loving and faithful than this. I would have lost all hope in this possibility - this true deep love possibility - but I have witnessed my aunt and uncle (both passed away at young ages) with this love. I know it is possible. now they are in Heaven with each other. My Aunt, she never remarried after my uncle died of a heart attack unexpectedly. I spoke with her before she did a year ago - she was hit with cancer out of nowhere. She said she was scared to leave her grandkids, or saddened by that - but was happy to see Bob, her husband. It makes me wonder sometimes - but I believe they are together now again. Life is so short - I wish people would stop the games and it is good to know others long for this real love.; Reply to Comment
