    Poem Commentary

    I have a friend that I care about and love..... I got it for her but I am not the one for her...... such is life...... This poem was written for her and she will never know......

    I once was
    As I live this life......
    I know it's not a dream.......
    But as the days go bye.....
    I wonder why I don't scream..............

    I fight to keep this flesh....
    In submition to God's Holy Spirit.....
    I try to walk my best....
    I put myself to the test.....

    Loving and careing about my friends I know.....
    Helping when I can.....
    It does crash down..............
    My emotions I try not to let show.....

    So I ask for help......
    I don't want to sink.....
    Down into myself.....
    The person I once use to be......

    Brutally honest and reaching out, it seems that the poet is asking for something. To me, the reader, I want to reach back and say do not despair, hope is everywhere. Look at a flower, or the sky as birds fly. Give a smile to someone who has none and see what comes back. Bless You!
