    Melanin

    Melanin
Oh how I love the skin that I am in.
Born this way full of melanin.
    I love the sunshine.
    It surely loves me.
I sit still with my head to the sky.
My soul feels connected and free.
    Its such a majestic experience.
As my body yearns  for the sun.
People hate me but really admire  the skin that I am in.
As long as melanin confuses them , I won.
I am in communion with God the almighty.
Our spirits are in sync, we become one.
This melanin in me is priceless, it makes me a trophy and a prize.
Melanin connected to my soulmate, my King, means we rise.
Melanin doesn't make me hateful, nor makes me despise.
Others who don't look like me, God bless their souls.
I was born this way, take me or leave me.
I accept my melanin and whats innate.
So it is well with my soul, LOVE me, don't hate.
    Amen

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
