Milestones
Age is obsolete when you can no longer sense time
Ignorance kicks in, autopilot seems fine
Stupidity acknowledged when youth is exerted
Lack of experience personified by one demonstration
You know someone else has the answer
But they will never say it up front or let you in
Standing in the doorway feeling the breeze of knowledge
The door slams on you but you don’t notice
Talking to yourself you stand outside of the ring
Coming up with brilliant solutions but no one knows
After each epiphany you smile smugly
Murmuring the words to yourself again and again
You open your eyes to find you’ve talked a whole in the door
Standing still all you can do is stare through to the next world
You’ve opened your heart to yourself and no one else
Seems like you’ve accomplished nothing but you take a step anyway
All this time you’ve had no control
This next milestone has been reached; its code has been breached
