Shinedown
Another cold night,
As I lie awake,
Alone - contemplating on past mistakes
I remember - Just what it takes, just what it takes
Just what it takes...
To live the life I lead
To walk the path I chose
To seeing most of your friends end up as foes
This loneliness and these somber woes
Nobody knows, nobody knows...
And I heard someone once say
The sun shines on each new day
So why are my skies so gray?
Why does life have to be this way?
My Intentions
They are all pure
My greatest strength - I always endure
Scars - I have many, they don't have a cure
Don't have a cure, ain't got no cure...
Cure for a broken heart
Cure for my broken trust
But I keep moving on because I feel I must
Not to succumb to lies and let my senses rust
My senses rust, My senses rust...
And I heard someone once say
The sun shines on each new day
So why are my skies so gray?
Why does life have to be this way?
But I know there will come a time
When I will finally get what's mine
A love, a solace, a peace of mind
And on that day the sun will shine.
As I lie awake,
Alone - contemplating on past mistakes
I remember - Just what it takes, just what it takes
Just what it takes...
To live the life I lead
To walk the path I chose
To seeing most of your friends end up as foes
This loneliness and these somber woes
Nobody knows, nobody knows...
And I heard someone once say
The sun shines on each new day
So why are my skies so gray?
Why does life have to be this way?
My Intentions
They are all pure
My greatest strength - I always endure
Scars - I have many, they don't have a cure
Don't have a cure, ain't got no cure...
Cure for a broken heart
Cure for my broken trust
But I keep moving on because I feel I must
Not to succumb to lies and let my senses rust
My senses rust, My senses rust...
And I heard someone once say
The sun shines on each new day
So why are my skies so gray?
Why does life have to be this way?
But I know there will come a time
When I will finally get what's mine
A love, a solace, a peace of mind
And on that day the sun will shine.
