    Soldiers Wife

    She awaits by the phone
    Hoping he will call
He fights in a foreign land
She prays no harm comes to him at all

    The sound of his voice
    Brings her to tears
    He is still unharmed
It relieves a bit of her fears

    She wishes to see him
    For him to hold her
    God she loves him
    Her American Soldier

    Everyday that goes by
    When he is not around
    Her mind races
    Her heart aches and pounds

    What will she do
    If he gets harmed
Their romance will last for ever
    Their love is charmed

    She raises their children alone
    With a stead fast pride
    Will be mother and father
Till he is back at her side

Been only a couple of months
    A few more to go
Still she cries and says she loves him
He tells her he misses her so

She tells him to be safe
    To come back to her
He whispers I will and I love you
She is relieved at his answer

    She will be strong
She has to be patient she knows
But she cant wait for him to come home
So she can kiss her hero

Very nice, and as a former army wife this is exactly how I felt when he went to war

    Great Poem DB

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
