Poem Commentary

This is my very first attempt at Haiku...this was influenced by the catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which they are currently burning off the surface.

Gulf of Fire (Haiku)

Once Beautiful Gulf
Engulfed By Waves Of Fire
My Lord, What Have We Done

Haikus are usually not my favorite types of poetry, but mostly because people can't say enough in one to make it understandable. But you pulled it off. Go figure it'd be you. Haha! Brilliant written, as usual. Thanks for sharing it.

the image of a "wave" of fire is extremley well-placed and beckoning, as well as a clever twist of phrase as the fire IS in the ocean.. haha great write. thanks for the request!! Id rate it a 15 out of 10!

great job... mankind sickens me. we are destroying everything... "save the whales, kill the humans!!!"

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
