The Generation Who Sold The World
This is a lyrical re-write to the David Bowie song 'The man who sold the world'. Although I prefer the Nirvana version myself. If you know the song you can use the same cadence while reading. If you dont know the song you should check it out (it's awesome), and you will be able to read this poem as intended (RECOMMENDED).
We live under the stars
I speak of nature and man
Although we share the air
We don't treat her as a friend
We grow deaf to her cries
A victim of man's demise
We're fated to die alone
As our selfishness still grows
Oh Yes, T'was We
We never had control
We're face to face
With the generation who sold the world
I cry and shake my head
It's time we took a stand
We've destroyed our farming land
Waves and waves of Oil foam
Through the hazy smog I stare
The view still gives me the chills
We're doomed to die alone
Fate not sealed long ago
Oh Yes, T'was We
We Never had control
We're face to face
With the generation who sold the world
Oh Yes, T'was We
We finally lost control
We're face to face
With the generation who killed the world
