Poem Commentary

This came fast... I want to do more with it, but had to get this idea down before I lost it or forgot it. But please tell me what you think. There's some SP, PJ, and ND influence in the music in this piece. I hope you can catch on to the melody and changes.

Humanity

In the garden, in the dark of night
He was there when betrayal came with might
He was taken, Thrown in prison
He was beaten, Even tortured too...
...He did it all for you...(humanity, for you)
...He did all for you

Had to suffer, He had to pay the price
He had to bleed, He was the sacrifice
Nailed to wood - For crucifixion
And there He hung, He died there too...
...He did it all for you...(humanity, for you)
...He did it all for you

To make all things new - He walked the path of truth
He shed His blood for you - To make all things new
Won't you love Him too?...
Won't you love Him too?

Never let whatever - Drag you down
Deep as you get - You have to crawl out
Never let the liars - Pull you down
Never in a pit so deep, Never where you want to be
Never in the pit so deep, Nothing in the fire breathes

Life's an ocean, You are within a storm
Red sky at morning, Sailors please be warned
You were sinking, He came running
He brought truth, And calm waters too...
...Out of love for you...(humanity, for you)
...He did it all for you

We were lost ships, Lost Heaven, our land
But He's a lighthouse, And our guiding hand
He spoke of love, And forgiveness
He gave His life, And made all things new...
...He shed His blood for you...(humanity, for you)
...He did it all for you

To make all things new - Out of love for you
He walked the path of truth - And He died for you
But He has risen too!...
Won't you love Him too?

Never let whatever, Drag you down
The deeper you get, You have to crawl out
Never let the liars, Pull you down
Never in the pit so deep, Where only fire breathes
Men of God, we do believe, Men of God, we do believe,
Men of God, we do believe... He came to set us free!

Beautiful piece of work Matt! I really enjoyed reading this. I really liked the way it flowed.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
