    Never Thought

    Everything around me is different
It seems the cats are chasing the dogs
And since I've lost my princess
I've turned back into a frog

Empty hearts seem to surround me
It doesn't matter what I do
For once I thought I was lucky
That things were different with you

I never thought that I would lose you
After all that we've been through
I never thought that I would lose you
But here I sit and softly cry

    Loneliness kills so slowly
This place is feeling so cold
    And since you've been abandoning
    I haven't felt so bold

    Every morning I am woken
By the pain with a scream
At least it ends the nightly-mares
Of you giving up on me

I never thought that I would lose you
After all that we've been through
I never thought that I would lose you
But here I sit and sofly cry
I never thought we'd say, 'goodbye'
Never thought I would catch you in a lie
I never thought we'd say, 'goodbye'
But here I feel that I could die

I swear that I am haunted
    Each and every day
Of you giving up on us
    And throwing it all away

But wouldn't I rather be happy?
    Wouldn't I rather smile?
Wouldn't I rather just let it all go?
Shut the book and close the file

I never thought that I would lose you
After all that we've been through
I never thought that I would lose you
But here I sit and softly cry...
    With fear
    That love's
    A lie

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
