The Devil She Knows

The Devil She Knows

You are the one who makes her cry - Because of you she wants to die
She only sees darkness, that's all you gave - Pushing her to an early grave

You cause her pain, betray her trust - All her tears have turned to dust
You have no heart, you have no soul - You are the devil that she knows

A life of sorrow filled with pain - Enough to make someone insane
All you've said, everything you've done - Has to get away, but she can't run

She's fed up, can take no more - You better back off, you've been warned
Some day she will found some truth - She has to save herself from you

Some day they will find you there - Rigor mortis, with death in the air
She'll make you be what you've always been - Darkness of evil will never win

She will find another chance at this life - Another chance to feel alive
Out of darkness, into the light - If she keeps the faith she will be alright.

While I love the sentiments of your poem, sadly many who live in such conditions and attempted to escape them through such methods often end up in jail for murder (intentional or self-defense related). While they may plea deal, get time served or a lesser sentence, the trauma added to often cruel and unsympathetic legal systems, they find themselves in an equally painful situation.

I did think of that, and I've wanted to change this around a bit to create a 'happy ending'. I just haven't figured out how yet. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and commenting.

This is great! I love it so much! Great Write. Keep up the good work.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
