Intervention (part 1 of 3)
We heard them walk throught the doorThey then came down the stairs
When he turned the corner
He found that we were all there
As we sat in a circle
We all had something to say
And we sat in that basement
All throughout that day
The first letter was read
The rest followed behind
And we all shed our tears
But kept a prayer in mind
Yes, the letters began
The tears soon followed
As we held out our hands
For a better tomorrow
~~~
He sat so silent and so still
As we read all of them
We recalled brighter days
Memories of way back when
He shared some smiles
And even shed some tears
As we offered a way
To bring back brighter years
But he wouldn't say 'yes'
He would only say 'no'
Then that addicted look
It began to show
We kept asking him why
And begged for some truth
But he blindly denied
Every evidence of proof
~~~
He said there wasn't a problem
That his demons weren't real
He claimed that it was him
Who was behind the wheel
But he wasn't himself
No, not at all
It's so painful to watch
Such a bright star fall
And he would not budge
He wouldn't change his mind
He tried to push this
To another time
Only one letter was left
And it had to be read
It told him we all loved him
But now was the end
~~~
