Today's a Gift, That's Why It's Called The "Present"!
“Today is a gift that’s why it’s called the “PRESENT”.
I’ve heard this phrase a lot of times,
but never did I really take it to heart
…not until now.
Who would’ve had time to appreciate
these nine words,
one simple and short sentence
when all of us are busy with our daily lives?
Why would a student mind this phrase
when she’s stressed with term papers and exams?
How could a single mom give time to such a thing
when work, children and responsibilities overwhelm her?
A workaholic is too busy
to even spend a time pondering on this.
We cannot expect a broken hearted person
to appreciate the beauty of it.
The people who are in dept because of unemployment
will just be more depressed upon hearing it.
Poor people who are starving
and no place to live in will take it as a joke.
Angry people will never swallow it.
Even the happy people
will never give value to this
because they’re too busy planning
of other happy things to do with their time.
Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
If people could only give value
to such a simple yet meaningful phrase,
this world will be truly such a wonderful place to live in
…or am I just kidding myself?
But hey, if both of your parents are still alive today…
OR
You are healthy so as each and every member of your household…
OR
You are breathing and alive…
OR
You do or do not have work,
but you have people who love you
for whom and for what you are and not for what you have…
OR
Friends are still part of your life…
OR
You’re in school and can afford to do so…
AND
the like…
Then isn’t it today is a present indeed??
So I wonder…
who could really give time to ponder on this?
.............
I hope everyone will.
…and may it start with you if you’re reading this.
