    Poem Commentary

    True beauty is not physical...it is skin deep!

    A Talk with the Mirror

     Mirror, mirror on the wall
    Please tell me what you truly see;
    I wouldn't mind the truth
    As long as it will set me free.

    The Mirror answered:

    "I see two bright eyes
    That always see what's good;
    A pair of ears that are willing
    To listen to the woes;
    A nose that smells and accepts
    The nature of a person;
    And lips that speak gentle and caring words."

    Mirror, mirror in front of me
    Please do kindly tell me;
    What are the other things
    That the others cannot see.

    The Mirror smiled and said:

    "They focus on your physical appearance,
    Some do miss the most important ones;
    Shoulders that catch a friend's tears;
    Arms that give warmth and comfort;
    A pair of hands that offer help;
    And two feet that always try to walk
    on a righteous path."

    Mirror, do you not know
    Sometimes it hurts to know
    That what they only see
    Is the physical appearance of me
    How I wish that they will look closer
    And be nice enough to see the real me.

    The Mirror then replied:

    "True beauty lies within your heart
    And your mind has always a place for understanding;
    And believe me, you are a real beauty
    Inside and out."

    Mirror, mirror, you are very kind
    I hope that people will truly use their eyes
    To see me the way that you do
    And accept me for what and who I really am.
