Home-Land
The training and sacrifice
Agaisnt most advice
For the red, white and blue
Their pride and devotion is true
Death or to live once again
The end could come who knows when
Guns and bullets for protection
Searching and crossing a section
Snipers and bombs lurking around
Often hearing loud noises and a booming sound
Heat can make and destroy the strong
Every day seems to be long
The food is not what it used to be
Miles and miles away from the family
Little hours of sleep
Few possesions to keep
Only a picture or two
If only citizens only knew
Fighting for a cause some say is unknown
Yet lives are at stake in the danger zone
Sand in our face, sun in our eyes
Hearing from a far a dying mans cries
One day to be home again
Who knows when?
To defend and protect the U.S.A
The home that is far away
Just men out here, living with fear
No loved ones or too many supporters near
Dreams and tears in a letter
Wishing the war would some day get better
Money is not great, that is not even the debate
The military life that very few can imagine or relate
Disaster flirts with destiny
With winds that blow sand, it is often hard to see
Water is limited like other things
Reality often hurts and stings
To be in the arms of loved ones again
The life style that turns boys into men
Going home just for a little while
Anytime to be called back on speed dial
Dropping everything in life to answer the call
Winter, spring, summer and fall
for our land, forever united we stand
A strong and ever lasting demand
Medals and awards acheived
Even for the deceased they are received
For those who survive or die in honor
Freedom and peace shall never be a goner
May everyone know
That serving a nation is not a stunt or a show
So we cry for what has been done
Or finished and later to begun
