The Pump
The Pump
We do not swing a bat, kick or shoot a ball, or slap the puck.
We don’t race or ride, keep score, have coaches or team mates.
We don’t win or lose or seek the admiration of fans.
We pump; and we pump; we simply pump.
We pump our biceps, chest, quads, lats, delts and triceps.
We pump with our claves, and gluts and hamstrings and abs.
We keep pumping and pumping and pumping until;
We just can’t pump anymore.
Someone will ask, “Why is this? Why do we pump like this?”
We answer this question with a question. “What else is there?”
“The pump is the pump! There is nothing but the pump!”
All things begin and end with the pump.
Sunrise, the morning, the day and the night and everything which occurs in between; compresses into one motion, one feeling, one set, one last rep and one final burn.
Problems get smaller, successes get larger, and our eyes open wider and our minds get sharper and thoughts clearer.
We stand taller, we hold our heads higher and we walk with a spring and a bounce in our step. We breathe easy and speak clearly and take on every challenge with vigor and confidence.
So why pump?
Why, on earth, would we stop pumping?
