Slainte
Slainte
Waiting my turn to go on stage to recite
poetry at the place next door .....
Big Brown won the Kentucky Derby
by 4 1-2 lengths.
Runner up, Eight-Bells, broke both front ankles after
crossing the wire and was euthanized on the track.
The Irish bar Slainte ( cheers) next to the Bowery Poetry Club is where I watched the race.
It was a good race and won by Big Brown's raw power as he came out of the
crowded pack of dirt digging beast muscle on the club house turn in fourth to take it .
Eight-Bells killed himself trying to beat Big Brown.
The poets inside the poetry club
were all getting ready and they mostly had black shirts and crazy tattoos and face piercings
and just were trying too hard to appear apart from.
The people out side were saying "I wonder whats going on inside there?"...
like poets are some kind of other earthy creatures.
I stayed next door at the Irish bar and ordered deep fried mushrooms drank dark beer,
Irish coffee and I wrote this poem .
