I had no idea this was going on...but it is true what you say. Poetry is powerful...and it has the ability to affect the hearts and minds of those who read it. Your pen is filled with truth on this day...and the kudos shall accompany it :)

This 'baby poem' just inspired me to write something,,so,first, thanx for that!! (ps,I'll let ya know when I post it!) This brings to mind something my 12yr old son said last year, when John posted that thing in the forum-Can poetry make a diffrence in the world? I asked Luke what he thought. He said no.-I felt chills run down my spine, I looked at him, and thought..how could this be, after all the spiritual teachings I have shared with him? Then he continued..'Momma, It's not the poetry that can change the world. It's the poets that can change the world-if their brave enough.'~thro' the mouths of babes! Enough said...oh, except-Dh, this piece is another reason why we worship your mark in this world!-luvya,Maddi

Poetry is a powerful tool! The Dali Lama always looks so peaceful to me when I've seen his photos, but it's funny that he is accused of imposing on the human rights of those in India, I'm sure I'm wrong when I write India. While at the same time he has had his own human rights violated it seems. I really like this one! Very interesting topic, been a long time since I've thought about it.

he is in India ... in exile ... our global religious interactions are fascinating indeed ... i don't know about the story to which you refer, but it wouldn't surprise me if he has detractors, as he's very influential ... thx again for the visit and the note!

So true, DH! There is an IMMENSE power in poetry and in written words of all forms. Even in it's brevity, this speaks volumes ~ Bravo!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
