Society so seldom is blessed to have its worldly sins carried away as to become renewed, so it is up to each individual to give to the vultures only that which should be stripped away by self ~ discarded burdens that free our souls to let our minds and spirits reach greater heights.... You have revealed great things with your few perfectly chosen words and I thank you for sharing. 10

ty so much for reading! we carry way too many burdens ... gotta wrap things up and carry on, move along, approach each moment ... free ... with intention and focus, not distracted by the past ... personal or otherwise ... indeed ... i hope this metaphor is useful ... much luv and ty again for reading and leaving such a thoughtful note! -dh

And so the sacred cycle of Life is completed, only to spiral around and begin again in another form. This really is a lovely reminder that only when something ends can something else begin. Nice.

It's ok to say eclectic-morbid, isn't it? I'm not saying I read this as a death wish, while on the other hand, what's the harm if you're dead?! An eye opener to stark realities of dying and death, prelude to hereafter. Well written to keep the reader wondering the course of the path you've taken.

ty for the visit and the thoughtful comment, Marsink! i also like to think of the metaphor of death for ... old ideas, old relationships, old ways of being ... emptying the cup, so to speak, that new energies may have a place ... zen meets native american philosophy, is suppose ... ty again! -dh

A very interesting piece. At face value, the freedom that this poem shares is vivid and when I look further into it, I feel a soothing, spiritual release within the lines. You are a very talented poet. Thank you for the peace you give. God bless~

I love the idea of something carrying away and making done with the "dead weight" and extraneous, freeing us up, and making way for the new...Sort of Natures spin on New Years! No funny hats or lighting of fireworks...simply~ Peace Eagles!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
