Poem Commentary

All in a Mom's day of work.

Just Another Day

I'm in a hurry and this damn light turned red.
So many things going on in my head, I didn't hear a
thing my daughter said. My day just got started and
I already dread the day ahead.

Dropped the kids off at school, up a block because you
know mom's are not cool. Gotta pick up some groceries,
like cottage cheese and maybe some sweet peas.

Back at the house to clean the kids morning mess.
Press my darling daughter's pretty little dress.
Starting to feel the stress.

On my way to pick up the kids.
My son says,"He's not ready yet".
I'll admit that makes me a bit upset.

Home again, and it's dinner time already.
Let's see, what is fast and easy, guess
I'm making spaghetti.

Children wash the dishes. Yeah right,
that's what every mom wishes. Made
them food and still no kisses.

Now off to get my son. Traffic is a nightmare,
this kid better be done.

Home at last, no time to relax, gotta get things
ready for tomorrow, on top of that I still have
to clean the kitchen. the day is gone so,
no time for "ME",

I knew that would happen.

Wow how I can empathize with this! I have just gotten to where I have some time for me during the day between all the kiddoes. Nice piece of work here and since your babies are older than mine I must ask, does it get easier???

Thanks for reading. Well I have 5 and as they got older I wish it was easier. Oh yeah, they can dress themselves and they don't need car seats or diapers and such. But they become more expensive and depending on school activities or hobbies it is tiresome. I had 3 in the same high school. I drove them to and from school and that was the hardest part, because of different after school sports it was me driving to and from school about 2-3 times a day. Not fun. But you love them and find out how it works best. Best wishes

My hat is off to all mothers. Are they not all incredible and worthy of praise.

Yes there is not much time for appreciation, thank you or kisses, but I thank God for you for there are not enough Mom's like you.

this could and should be, a testament givento every man on the planet, and a lesson for small boys before they grow into men: Guys, your girl's having a shit day, take the time to appreciate her. She's busting herself raw to maintain the life to which you've grown accustomed, so at least say "Thank you". And they wonder why I despise my own gender....

Thank you, you are such a kind man. Too bad there aren't clones of you all over for those deserving women. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you for your comment and if there was only a Better Way.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
