    Red Sands Of Time

     He came from a place of cotton and oil
    that was it's fame

    but

    the land out of time
    red though it be

    has so much more
    for you too see

    but

    you must look
    with eyes of child
    and
    you will see coyote,rabbit,owl
    and hawk
    horn toad lizard
    bob cats stealthy stalk
    blue
    and
    bob white quail
    sand hill cranes in  season
    on seven foot wing span
    they sail

    mesquites
    and wild willow
    tall prarie grass
    to make a soft pillow

    prong horn antelope colorful
    and
    fast
    big buck mule deer

    but

    I wonder

    how much longer
    it will last

    sometimes just below the surface from a time past
    you will find little treasures

    in the land of the red sands of time.
