The Vets
They served with honor
didnt run and hide
they gave their all
with dignity and pride
they didnt recieve parades
many were spat upon
many are no longer with us
am sad they are gone
They believed in America
and
the red,white and blue
they battled for me
and
they battled for you
most didnt have a choice
were drafted
without a voice
see an old vet
who fought in Viet Nam
tell them thank you
for your service
and
for helping the oppressed
out of a jam
I am saddened
how America
turned it's back
on all of them
I hope you realize
they are bright stars
and
American gems
reach out to those vets
in your city
or
in your town
and remember
they never let us down
I am the son of
a Viet Nam vet
my dad was there
from sixty seven
until tet
a sincere thanks
and a
handshake
or
maybe a hug or
Hi five
and
Thank God
some are still alive
