Arabia
Arabia: 82 LinesIn the depths of the Sahara, there was a man,
Who was poorer than poor, but had a plan,
Unlike the story of Aladdin, he would not get to love, befriend,
The princess which lived within,
The giant castle atop of the sand,
Whose desert storms gave a huge demand,
No, he had to win his love the hard way,
He had to hustle and bustle in his own swagger and sway,
He was still humble, and never forgot,
Where he came from and how he too, had to cast his lot,
And as his internal locus of control, it guided him right,
Kept him afloat and sane even in the heat of the night,
Then one day in the streets where the merchants were, he picked up a meal,
Sat peacefully on the chair enjoy and not steal,
When a woman more beautiful than all the gold in the earth,
Sat right next to him with her meal to girth,
Astonished he dropped his fork, knowing not what to do,
"Whats a matter there handsome, haven't you seen beauty look at you?"
"No I haven't" he said, "I work cutting fish and selling fruit
Don't make much doing it, but plan to get to the root,
Of how those who have keep getting, and those who don't remain to suffer,
Then find my own way to get in the middle and create a buffer,"
"Not bad handsome one, I like a man with a plan,
You count your losses but still do what you can,
You'll be wealthy soon enough and I hope you share your knowledge of gold,
Pass it on to others that they may do the same too when they get old,"
He smiled and said, "I didn't catch your name, who are you?"
"What good is my name when in truth you don't know who,
I am or what I'm doing, why I am here and what not,"
"Well you don't have to tell me, but since you won't I'll call you robot,"
"Cute, but you can call me by the name of our nation,
Arabia's the name, it was a pleasure meeting you in this situation,"
"Then Arabia you shall be" he said with a smile,
Though in his heart he felt like he'd been with her for quite a while,
"I don't want to marry this woman, O' but what I'd give to hold her hand,
Try as I might to look deep within her and understand,
Feel the softness of her body as I smell her Alabaster skin,
Making my heart warm with joy deep within,"
Wasting no time he looked left and then looked right,
Saw the silhouette of her body glide in the sunlight,
Raced past the chickens and other merchant shops,
Wished he hadn't drank so many Arabian soda pops,
Dashed left real quick, then right the next,
Had he gotten her number in today's time all he would of had to do was text,
Jumped up top to run up close and get a clear shot, overview,
Nearly fainted with glory at such a sight he never knew,
Pressed onward, forward, till he slipped on a tent,
Turns out this tent catapulted him with no relent,
He skied, sailed, Flied overhead,
He feared if he didn't land right, he'd lose much more than her, much worse, he'd be dead,
But just in the nick of time there was a tent where he could land,
When he landed he fell with a thud, but guess what? He fell into sand,
Didn't hurt him a bit it landed him a short walk ahead,
Gave him just enough time to touch up and look good instead,
Waited right behind the corner and sensed she would turn his way,
As she turned she jumped aback in surprise dismay,
"Didn't mean to startle you," he said with a quiet calm,
"And lucky you, otherwise youda felt the back of my palm,"
"And I still do want to feel the back of your palm,
Though not through violence rather through a calm,
And peaceful environment for just us two,
I don't mean the fancy eatery place you may be accustomed to see,
Just a place to dine where u and I can be at peace, be happy,
So what say you in this matter, will you accept?
Or would I have been better off wondering, sitting with regret?"
"Is that all you wanted, you hustled and bustled for that,
I would have given you that as soon as you opened your trap,
You had me in the beginning I was just waiting for the right moment,
Figured next time would be great to gain some atonement,
And ask you out myself to see how far we can go,
But since you jumped the gun baby, LETS GO!"
