Affection
Affection: 37 Lines
I think this is one of the hardest feelings to capture, let alone receive,
Harder sometimes even, to perceive,
But its a physical feeling and emotion that i really desire but receive so little of,
Like a drought that thirsts for the rains above,
So it is with me and affection,
I hold it close and cradle it with protection,
What little of it i do get, which is few and far between,
Years will pass and the more that do, the more I become keen,
What seems so close, but is so far away,
What many folks seem to have but what i cannot get today,
I'm not whining or moping, just observing something i desire but don't have,
Like a championship ring for LeBron James, who may no longer be a Cleavland Cav,
At least i know what its like to have, to recieve, to enjoy,
Im fully adult but in those moments, I'm a little boy,
Fully in the moment never wanting it to end or retire,
Like when you hold a lover in the still of the night by the blazing fire,
And she is very close to you eyes locked together,
Looking intently hoping it lasts forever,
Then your hand touches her hair,
So soft and silky, like a ride on air,
Or her hand touching you, the glide across your face,
You cant help but smile and lean in for an embrace,
And feel her hair brush across your face as she embraces you,
Safe and secure she feels wrapping her arms around you,
But you feel the exact same way to her and even more so,
You feel another mind and body connecting to you to create a river that will flow,
And you might glide your hand down to hers to interlock,
Peacefully sitting or lying together with the only sound being the Tick Tock,
Of heartbeats that both of you share,
Amazing what affection can do to you, make you live, love, CARE.
