    Dead leaf and black crow

    That which bloomed in May
    Has long since gone away

    The haunting loons call
    Silent as the leaves fall

    Cold winds chop the lake
    Making whitecaps and wake

    Old groans fill the trees
    On a sleepy light breeze

    Noisy are the crows
    Sitting on bare tree bows

    The clouds black and gray
    Dark omens on the way

    Winters cold and white
    The last fading daylight

    The leaves have piled high
Left to lay where they lie

    Forsaken the rake
The rest the wind can take

    I am done I know
With dead leaf and black crow

winter, wonderfully rhyming couplets of seasonal verse that tell the story of Autumn in your unique and often haunting style. ginga

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
