    Thats that

    She wants a card
Well no, not paper, nothing so hard
A poem is what she really has in mind
It just doesn't work that way

    She wants something more
Well no, She wants me the ewer to pour
For my pen to work magic
It just doesn't work that way

She really doesn't want that much
Some words in couplets, rhymes, and such
Perhaps, something about her lovely eyes
It just doesn't work that way

    She'll torture me for years
    She remind me with tears
that I couldn't put two words in a row
It just doesn't work that way

She will remind me years from now
With warmth and love and how
I just couldn't put two words in a row
    It just works that way

I will take the sting through time
    for she is absolutely sublime
And I will savor those nettles
    Thankfully it works that way

I love her and thats that

and yet, in your grouchy old "doesn't work that way" way - I see you found a way, to communicate all the things, it matter that you say. The final line...you did fine. :) I bet she loved it too! We prickly girls are like that..

Winter, Coercion will get her nowhere. I am sure that love poem will come when she ceases to suggest you write. Anyhow a very creative topic and I enjoyed the cleverness. ginga

Funny how love begs for words precisely when they're scarce. Then, you just gotta use whatcha got. Harv

Simply put - this is pure POETRY... and That's THAT! Soul

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
