    Winter beach in Maine

Walking on the beach in the eve
Sun and waves back and forth weave
The tide past in starts its flows
In ebb have erased footprints as it goes
The crowds that filled the past day
    Long since have given way
    Leaving me alone in thought
On what the waves have wrought
Walking knee deep in the foam
Down mile after mile I roam
And now as I prepare to leave
Down onto wave and beach it snows
Adding just a trifle to the sway
Off to the depths which I sought
Leaving rimes of ice on the loam

A bleak expanse with reminders of life filled space - chatter, children play - and nature's changing environment. I liked this very much. ~Pamela

Beautifully written. The ocean is fascinating, always changing and yet serene in it's immenseness. I've been to Maine in the fall but never when it snows. You brought it to life for me.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
