Winter
I saw her dancing today all fair and brightAcross snow clad fields in full sunlight
Her name is winter this I know
She breathes frost and is made from ice and snow
Single minded, pure will shows on her face
And wary I am of her cold embrace
I heard her howl all through the night
The house groaned and flickered the light
Wolves accompanied when she sank low
Only to rise again with the next wind blow
Round and round at a terrible pace
Through window dark winters dire face
I saw her cover the sky and dim the light
Sending forth snowflakes in their slow flight
There is something to freshly fallen snow
Making the moments last and slow
Winter makes such lovely brittle lace
And why in my heart for winter there will always be a place
