Softly falling snow

Softly falling snow

I awoke feeling restless
And so poked and prodded the embers of a fire gone listless
I placed the kettle on the stove
My thoughts were lost in a darkened tangled grove
As the dawn upwards crept
Not reluctantly my thoughts into hidden places swept
I tended to the fire
Speeding towards a point of light I did aspire
The kettle began to blow
I, I had found a place of softly falling snow
Setting about I made a cup of tea
Almost subconsciously, I was lost in that reverie
The fire again burned low
For I was lost in thoughts of a softly falling snow

A beautiful, tender poem. The serenity that you painted was remarkable. "Softly falling snow" says it all. Great job.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
