    Pumpkins on the Vine

Sank down to cut pumpkin from vine
Whilst cycled I through varied thought
    Children, parents, lovers, and divine
    Reflected on experience versus taught
Hand still on vine, knife held ready
I stopped in thought and position
Still paused with knife hand steady
    Whilst continued mental supposition
Brought back abruptly to the present
Asked my son, "Are you all right?"
    "I’m fine," sighed I cutting a crescent
Pumpkin parted vine in somber light
Cold frost had browned old corn stalk
Well before our pumpkins parted vine
Gleeful Children and I then did walk
All Carrying pumpkins parted from vine

A beautiful moment captured - yet careful contemplation at the cutting - memories - peace. You command the English language so well. An admirable poet. Thank you. ~Pamela

You lifted the corners of my mouth... An easy, set through this tiny movie it was... Enjoyed this one.... Well done...

I love earthy poems about the harvest.Pumpkins are a fascinating vegetable and fun to watch them as they grow. You have captured the essence of this. A joy to read. ginga

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
