Drowning Soul
Listen to herCall out to you.
Does it please you
To hear her drown?
Just watch her
Reaching out for you.
Do you enjoy
Watching her fall
And be pushed down?
At times I question
If you've ever had a heart,
But such questions as that
Hardly require thought.
The only thing
You leave to question
Is whether or not
She's still breathing,
Whether or not
That broken heart's still beating.
You just stand
And smile broadly
Without the will strong enough
To save her
To lift her up
From beneath the lonely.
But one day,
I feel,
Those fragile lungs
Will fill with air.
One day
Those gentle hands
Will find the shore.
One day,
That slowing heart
Will race with love.
One day
She will live without you:
She'll survive.
