Poem Commentary

Society is conformity

Who Would Believe

The world watches me
Fall down to my knees
Like a sitcom
On some television screen,
But who would believe
Somebody so young
Could fall?

My heart is shattered
All over the floor
Like a window
That's kicked to peices,
But who would believe
Hearts so pure
Could break so easy?

My mind pulses through
Painful memories
Like a montage
Made to bring my down,
But who would believe
A little girl
Like me?

Society just smiles
As I'm pushed to the ground,
Like a leaf,
Falling is natural.
So who would believe
That society
Was wrong?

Who would believe
We all could fall?
Who would believe
We all could break?
Who would believe
We all have an opinion?
Who would believe
In what's inhumane?

Society...

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
