Left Field

Left Field

When did I start defining myself through him?

Why can’t I let this go?

I feel bitter, guilty, resentful, justified.

I didn’t know it was possible to hate someone so thoroughly

And still love them so much it aches.

Right now the tiniest action (or inaction)

Is bound to set off either a flood of tears

Or a rage-filled argument.

It will be interesting to see which it will be.

I hope I just cry.

He broke my heart in singular style;

I didn’t even see it coming.

I suppose this is why they say love is blind. Seems as though the person did not realize what they had with you...10

What does the title mean? Seems like a broken heart, but if its base ball, I have no knowlege in the subject to have the backgound info for what it means. The hate/love part seems a bit cliche, I love the "(or inaction)" it is a subnote that fits in, feels just thrown there bitter, and emotionless, like almost sarcasm to hold emotion in :P

'Left Field' means it basically came out of nowhere, completely unexpected. The 'action or inaction' bit is because I was trembling on the brink, barely able to keep my balance on a knife's edge of emotion. I knew I was an emotional time bomb and the tiniest thing would force me to detonate. Once again, written as a child but you are completely right about the bitterness. It was the beginning of a series of difficult relationships. Thanks for taking the time to read and the comments!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
